Notable Statues On Security Travels Itinerary

Being involved on a daily basis in the research, design, development and delivery of perimeter security systems, it's natural that I gravitate towards anything relating to innovation and engineering.

If you read about the lives of some of the world's greatest inventors it can sometimes be an 'eye opener' - some did not achieve all that they wanted to and many had more failures than successes. Well, it seems that just as with invention, so it is with politics and I was reminded of this on my recent trip to South Carolina in the USA.

Whilst in the city of Columbia I came across 2 notable statues ....

George Washington

Strom Thurmond

Born 170 years apart, these were two very different men. History would remember them both in political terms but in very different ways. Yet they had a number of things in common. Both men were freemasons and both held a passionate belief in their own political vision. They were very much men of their time with their actions reflecting the moral and social conflicts of the ages in which they lived. Click on the links above to read more about the lives of these notable men in American history.

My 'Security Travels' to the United States never seem to fail in providing me with wonderful photographs and reasons to stop and think about their deeper meaning :)

Credibility Is Key When It Comes To Security

If you need a plumber or decorator for your home, what do you do? Most people do a Google search first of all to come up with a short list but then they delve deeper and look for credibility. After all, no-one likes the idea of inviting strangers into their house if they don't know them. So ideally you look for a website that quotes testimonials or a client list. After that you contact one or two companies and ask for references. You might also check with neighbours which companies they have previously used and been happy with.

When it comes to high security for industrial and commercial sites, the same criteria apply. Indeed, it is probably more important now than ever for businesses to be able to put complete trust in their security supplier.

Here at Advanced Perimeter Systems Ltd, we recognise this as a key factor and our company philosophy reflects this. For example, we offer ongoing support to all our installers, both in the UK and overseas to ensure they are trained to the highest standards and we attend international exhibitions and seminars to demonstrate our product range and further enhance our understanding of the current security markets.

APS perimeter security stand at IFSEC
Tomorrow is the start of IFSEC at the NEC in Birmingham (May 13-16). Arguably the most significant of international security exhibitions, we will be in attendance in Hall 4, Stand 4/B17. Our Technical Directory Andy Moon will be available throughout the four days for questions and demonstrations. For more details please visit this page.

Going back to the importance of customer trust .... our philosophy, as explained above, has brought us the dividend of commercial success and, perhaps most importantly, the reward of a client portfolio which features many international companies. These include BP, British Aerospace, IBM, BNFL, Chevron, GlaxoSmithKline, Audi and Toyota. We are also privileged to have serviced contracts for the British Government's Ministry of Defence for over 10 years now.

Having full British Government approval for our security products affords us the level of credibility that petrochemical companies and international airports, for example, look for when sourcing perimeter security equipment. You can read more here about our work for BP and Chevron in the United Kingdom and here is a case study summary of the perimeter security contract we were awarded in India for the Hyderabad Airport.
